WORKING TOGETHER FOR A MORE SUSTAINABLE WORLD TOUR.
Coldplay's ambitious goal for their Music Of The Spheres World Tour was to reduce their direct carbon emissions by at least 50% compared to their previous tour. To help achieve this, they sought the expertise of the world's leading logistics provider, DHL.
Working together, minimising emissions by recycling reusable wristbands and using renewable fuels to deliver a more sustainable World Tour.
We're pleased to announce that we've exceeded our targets in collaboration with Coldplay and their other partners. The first two years of this tour have seen a 59% reduction in direct CO2e emissions compared to their 2016-17 stadium tour on a show-by-show comparison.
OFFICIAL TOUR LOGISTICS PARTNER
DHL's GoGreen Plus service provides a multi-faceted approach to minimising emissions. By using advanced biofuels (Sustainable Aviation Fuel), we reduced airfreight emissions by 1,078 tonnes of CO2e in 2023 alone, an 85% reduction in total carbon emissions compared to traditional fuels. On the ground, our fleet of electric vehicles and trucks powered by organic waste further decreases emissions across the supply chain.
Connecting millions of fans more sustainably with a (wrist)band
Every detail counts when helping make a global event like Coldplay’s World Tour more sustainable, even the logistics of wristbands.
The iconic LED wristbands, one of the highlights of every Coldplay show, pulse with light making every fan part of a spectacular stadium 'full of stars'.
Made from plant-based, compostable material, these wristbands are 100% reusable and recyclable. Fans actively help make the tour more sustainable by returning the wristbands after the show.
On average, over 86% of wristbands are returned. Which DHL then collects and delivers on in the most sustainable way possible. This includes utilizing Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) in the air and renewable fuel vehicles on land.

Fuelling a World Tour with
Sustainable Aviation Fuel.
Coldplay utilises DHL’s GoGreen Plus Low Emission Transportation Services for air transportation with a Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) share of 100%.
An alternative to traditional jet fuel, SAF is made from sustainable sources such as used cooking oil, animal fats, and agricultural waste. SAF biofuels are the only current viable solution for reducing emissions on long-distance flights. They are crucial for achieving our sustainability goals, and those of our partners, like Coldplay.
DHL is the only logistics company investing significantly in SAF to decarbonize its own fleet of planes. As a result, we have the highest SAF share (% of annual fuel consumption) compared to other airlines globally. We're also actively working with partners to increase SAF production and usage.
