DHL Fastest Lap Award

FORMULA 1® delivered by DHL

All about speed

Scoring a Formula 1® victory is all about speed; but is the winner always the fastest? Redefining our standards of speed, the DHL Fastest Lap Award is one for fierce competitors. This is how it works: one driver sets the fastest lap at each race - the award will go to the man who sets the most over the season.

Pure speed

To win will require pure speed – something we at DHL know all about. As the world's leading logistics provider and Official Logistics Partner of Formula 1, we achieve our goals by shortening international routes, facilitating global trade and making the world a smaller place.

FORMULA 1 PIRELLI BRITISH GRAND PRIX 2026

Kimi Antonelli's heroic charge through the field at Silverstone goes unrewarded

After two winless weekends, Kimi Antonelli was looking to bounce back at Silverstone. He had a very encouraging Saturday, winning a duel with Lewis Hamilton to become the youngest Sprint winner in Formula 1 history and following that up in qualifying by securing pole position.

On Sunday, however, Antonelli got off to a poor start, losing the lead to Charles Leclerc. He then spent the first half of the race catching up to the Ferrari. Mercedes decided to keep Antonelli out on the medium tires for a surprisingly long time. In fact, he was the last driver to come into the pits, fitting a set of fresh hard tires on lap 35. He then proceeded to squeeze every last bit of performance out of his Mercedes W17 in an attempt to close the seven-second gap to Leclerc, setting the DHL Fastest Lap on lap 38 with a time of 1:31.777 minutes.

Shortly thereafter, his race took a dramatic turn. A front-left wheel shield broke, throwing his Mercedes off balance. Two pit stops failed to fix the problem, and Antonelli fell back to tenth place. Although the team instructed him to retire the car, Antonelli elected to keep fighting. In the end, his heroic drive to the finish went unrewarded. A five-second penalty for exceeding track limits dropped him all the way back to 16th place behind the safety car.

But Antonelli refused to let his bad luck get him down: "I lost a lot of points, but the momentum is there. This weekend, I've shown the speed and what the potential could be. It actually makes the fire grow even more, to go out there in Spa and try to do even better."
