United States Grand Prix

Did you know?

Race behind the race

After Singapore, Formula 1 heads to Austin, Texas, for the United States Grand Prix at the Circuit of the Americas. COTA’s 5.513-kilometer layout features 56 laps with elevation changes, a steep climb into Turn 1, fast "Esses" modeled after those at Suzuka, and heavy braking zones into Turns 12 and 15. The weekend is also one of six designated sprint events, featuring a 100-km race on Saturday.

Austin marks the start of the Americas swing and a pivotal point in the season. Immediately after Texas, Formula 1 heads to Mexico City for a back-to-back race weekend, followed by São Paulo in early November. Then, a short break leads into the season’s final triple-header: Las Vegas, Qatar, and Abu Dhabi from late November into December.

Logistics shift into high gear at this point in the year. With the European season long over, teams rely heavily on air and sea freight to transport cars, spare parts, broadcast equipment, and hospitality infrastructure, amounting to approximately 1,200 tons per race. European legs are supported by biofuel-powered truck fleets, which reduce emissions in line with Formula 1’s and DHL’s shared goal of achieving net zero by 2030.
